Wengba Peak 翁巴圣山

at 5,100 meters above sea level, a rocky peak, is located in Pengjiazheng Valley, Xiaojin County, Sichuan, China. Wengba means "treasure bottle" in Tibetan. Among the 5,000-meter-level rocky peaks, Wengba Peak is as challenging to climb as Mt.Siguniang Erfeng, while being more difficult than Mt.Siguniang Sanfeng. Its 5,050m top is as challenging as Mt.Siguniang Dafeng. Wengba Base Camp is accessible by road and is 300 kilometers from Chengdu. The 5-kilometer one-way route from Base Camp to the summit involves climbing grassy slope, rocky slope, ridge and rock face. Reaching the summit requires climbing the rock face and rappelling from the summit. In terms of both difficulty and intensity, Wengba Peak alone rivals the Dafeng, Erfeng and Sanfeng of Mt.Siguniang.

The climbing personnel is composed of certified climbing guides with rich experience in climbing Wengba Peak. we will provide climbing technical training to escort your climb; scientifically acclimatize and fully logistical services to help you in good physical condition during the climb; furthermore providing a full set of technical equipment to save your costs and burdens.

Climbing Route

The climbing route of Wengba peak is to reach Base Camp (3780m) directly via vehicle, then hike 2.8km from Base Camp to Camp1 (4370 m, 600m of ascent).The summit push begins from Camp1 (2km, 730m of ascent), climbing grassy slope to a rocky slope at 4560m, the pass at 4900m, then climp up along the ridge to the 5050m Top. The 60m technical rock section (roughly 5.7 in rock difficulty grade) leading to the summit at 5100m. This technical rock section requires the use of ropes and ascender, as well as rappelling from the summit with descender.

Camp1 Service

The camp1 at Wengba Peak will provide hot food, hot drinks, heating furnace, sleeping bag and sleeping mattress.

Masherbrum assgins the climbing leader to manage the climb and provide sufficient experienced guides   to ensure safety

Day 01 Arrive in Chengdu, check in to hotel (500m), check equipment

Day 02 Drive from Chengdu via Wolong to Mt.Siguniang town (3200m) and acclimatize on the town

Day 03 Hike from Changping valley until Muluozi (3700m) for acclimization, then go back to the town.

Day 04 Drive from Mt.Siguniang town to the base camp of Wengba Peak (3780m), and hike 2.8km to Camp1 (4370m). At Camp1, you will get technical equipments and accept the pre-climbing training.

Day 05   Summit push from Camp1 in the early morning, the entire journey is 2km with a 730m ascent. After passing the rocky slope and the 4900m pass, and then climbed the ridge to reach the first top at 5050m. Eventually climbed up the rock face to the second top at 5100 meters. Return back by the same route. Stay hotel in the Xiaojin County tonight(2400m).

Day 06   From Xiaojin county back to Chengdu (500m) by 14:00pm.   Return flight should be booked after 18:00pm.

The member should have prior 4000m+ mountain trekking, must physically fit to the climbing sports, any major physical injuries, undergone surgery,   chronic disease etc information must declare.   Climbing to the 5100m second top is recommended with rock climbing skills

Every mountaineer who has decided to participate in an expedition to Wengba Peak must realize that an ascent of this mountain is an adventure activity and so it poses certain health and life risks.

She/he takes full personal responsibility for the decision to participate in this expedition, any act or failure to act during it and all the possible consequences of this decision.
