Wukuchu5,526m, it is newly finding snow mountain in china, located in the south of Minya Konka and belongs to the Daxue Mountain Range, nearby Shangchengzi Village in the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in western Sichuan, China.

Wukuchu is a technical snow mountain with enormous glaciers and good accessibility. It is suitable for climbing enthusiasts who have solid snow mountain climbing experience. The Wukuchu was first ascended by one Chinese group in Jan, 2021.

Wukuchu has Twin Peaks in fact. The "Wuku" on the left is the East Peak 5518m, and the "Chu" on the right is the West Peak 5526m, there is V-shaped rock valley between the twin peaks.At present, the climbing trips for Wukuchu are mainly target for the east peak-Wuku 5518m. In contrast, Masherbrum trip will attempt to twin peaks.

Masherbrum sent our mountain guide team to Wukuchu for exploration climbing, they climbed Wukuchu and made summit twin peaks. Our team obtained first-hand information for the climbing route, high mountain camp set-up, risk control and so on.

Masherbrum continues to organize Wukuchu climbing tour to Chinese and foreigner mountaineering enthusiasts in 2024.

We choose the east ridge as the climbing route as less difficulty and higher safety.

Starting from the 4300m base camp, trekking the gravel slope to the C1 camp at 5000m; continue trekking the gravel slope to reach the glacier part, climbing up the glacier slope to the east ridge, and then climb up to the east summit 5518m; Rock climbing from the east summit to the west summit 5526m and afterwards return to the east summit. Eventually, descend from east summit and return to base camp. The technical section of climbing is 400-500m distance.

The difficulty of east ridge climbing route is estimated to be AD- (Assez difficile) in the IFAS international climbing difficulty rating system.

Each member must have at least one snow mountain climbing experience, good stamina, luggage carrying and climbing skills including rock climbing, glacial travel and rope-drop operation etc.

We will assign our experienced climbing leader and mountain guides to Wukuchu climbing tour.

Climbing Route

Starting from Base Camp BC 4300m, passing through meadows, gravel slope, arrive in C1 (5000m) below the East Ridge, the distance about 5km.

Starting from C1 camp 5000m, continue trekking the gravel slope to reach the glacier part, climbing up the glacier slope to the east ridge, and then climb up to the east summit 5518m, the distance about 3-4km.

Attempt to Twin Peaks: rock climbing from the east summit 5518m to the west summit 5526m afterwards return to the east summit.

Eventually, descend from east summit and return to base camp.

BC will build on the grassland (4300m)

C1 will be on the gravel slope（5000m）

Risk Reminder

Wukuchu (5526m) is a technical peak which requires high climbing skills and experience. Every mountaineer who has decided to participate in an expedition to Wukuchu must realize that an ascent of this mountain is an adventure activity and so it poses certain health and life risks.

She/he takes full personal responsibility for the decision to participate in this expedition, any act or failure to act during it and all the possible consequences of this decision.

【Payment】

The deposit payment 4000CNY should be made by the registration deadline and the remaining payment will be paid before Day1 ; the payment refund will not happen due to member personal reason after Day1.
