6112m Reddomain Climbing

Reddomain 6,112m is one of the fascinating peaks of Minya Konka massif in Daxue Shan mountainrange which is located in the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in western Sichuan, China, rises fifteen kilometers north of Minya Konka.

The first introduction of Reddomain was in National Geographic Magazine in 1930,which was first ascended by the Gakushuin University Alpine Club in 1999.

The traditional route of Reddomain is the West Ridge route by the first ascent of Japanese team. Following Chinese and foreign teams made ascent 8-10 times via different climbing routes including the traditional route.

In 2021,Masherbrum organized the first international Reddomain climbing, assisted three foreigner members sucessfully made the summit meanwhile each represents their country's first ascent of Reddomain.

Based on the past operation of Reddomain climbing, Masherbrum will continue to make improvement and operate Reddomain climbing for foreign mountaineering enthusiasts in 2025.

Highlights in 2025 Reddomain climbing：

We will continue to climb up along the traditional west ridge route as less difficulty and higher safety.

Starting from the shore of the glacial lake, firstly we will pass through the scree-covered part and arrive in the rocky platform where we will set up Camp I at 5250 meters; then climb up snow slope to get on the west ridge, passing through the section of mixed rock and ice, arrive in the snow platform where we will set up Camp II at 5750 meters; Finally approach the summit along the steep snow ridge.

We will mostly use fixed ropes from CI(5250m) to Summit (6112m).

The difficulty of west ridge climbing route is estimated to be AD+ (Assez difficile) in the IFAS international climbing difficulty rating system.

Each member must have at least two 5000m+ snow peaks climbing experience, good stamina, luggage carrying and climbing skills including acrossing the belay station and rope-drop operation etc.

We will continue to assign our experienced climbing leader and mountain guides to 2025 Reddomain climbing.

Reddomain Climbing Map

Three camps will be built on the west ridge climbing route, they are base camp (4550m), Camp 1 (5250m) and Camp 2 (5750m) . The distance from the base camp to the summit is about 6.5 km.

Starting from Base Camp BC, passing through meadows, gravel slope, arrive in C1 (5250m) below the West Ridge;

Starting from C1, climb up to the west ridge at 5500 meters, climb over the snow cornice to the snow slope on the other side, continue along the ridge, and reach C2 (5750m);

Starting from C2, along the snow slope of 30-40 degrees to approach the summit where there is a flat snowfield.

Camping: Sleeping bag 1 (comfort rating -15°C), Trekking boots ( uses it before C1)

Risk Reminder

Reddomain (6112m) is a technical peak which requires high climbing skills and experience. Every mountaineer who has decided to participate in an expedition to Reddomain must realize that the climbing of this mountain is an adventure activity and would take certain health and life risks. There were three climbers died in the climbing of Reddomain!

She/he takes full personal responsibility for the decision to participate in this expedition, any act or failure to act during it and all the possible consequences of this decision.

【Payment】

The deposit payment 5000CNY should be made by the registration deadline and the remaining payment will be paid before Day1. The payment refund will not happen due to member personal reason.
