Muztagh Ata (7546m) (means the “Father of Ice Mountain”) is situated at Xinjiang region, the north-west of China. It is well known as the world's easiest peak of 7000m level due to its gentle western slope and the comparatively drier weather, hundreds of climbers visit Muztagh Ata annually because its accessibility and less difficulty, also the excellent skiing peak.

The climbing season is from late June to July during the summer for maximum 20 days. The traditional west ridge climbing route has an average gentle slope of 10-20 degrees, and there are a few visible and invisible crevasses on the route. There are four camps at Muztagh Peak, base camp BC (4400m), C1 (5400m), C2 (6200m) and C3 (6850m), all 4 camps are built on the flat snow place.

Climbing Route

The main section from BC to C1 is the gravel slope trail, a small amount of snow section, the slope is 15-25 degrees, and it usually takes 3-4 hours.

From BC to C1

C1 to C2, there is the most dangerous section of 5700-5900m due to invisible crevasses. It takes 5-7 hours.

From C1 to C2

The section from C2 to C3 require snowshoes or snowboards. At an altitude of 6500-6800m, there is a large snow slope with an average slope of 30 degrees; it usually takes 5-8 hours.

From C2 to C3

The section from C3 is the slope of 15-25 degrees, which requires a particularly long walking, usually takes 6-7 hours.。

ITINERARY

2025 June 28th～ July 15th 18days

Day 01 Arrive in Kashgar, Xinjiang, Check-in hotel

We can arrange airport pick-up for you, transfer to the hotel.

Day 02 Drive to 204 town (3800m) from Kashgar

Driving to 204 highway town along the Karakoram highway for a distance 200km in 5 hours, stay in 204 town.

Day 03 Hike to base camp (4400m)

Your luggage will be transferred to base camp by the jeep, you will hike to BC in 4 hours.

Day 04 Rest Day in Base camp (4400m)

Today you will be able to take a look at the location and acclimatize.

Day 05 BC to ABC/C1, back to base camp

Today you will ascent to ABC/Camp 1 (5400 m). There is a good trail along the ridge of the rocky mountainside to ascent, after arrival in C1, we will descent to BC.

Day 06 Rest Day in Base Camp (4400m)

Day 07 BC to C1, overnight in C1

Day 08 C1 to C2 (6200m), overnight in C2

Today you will ascent from Camp 1 (5200 m) to Camp 2 (6200 m). You must be very careful because there are many visible and invisible crevasses.

Day 09 C2 descent to BC

Day 10 Rest Day in BC

Day 13 C1 to C2

Day 14 C2 to C3

Ascent from Camp 2 (6200 m) to Camp 3 (6850 m). This part is a wide snow and ice ridge. In the beginning of the route there are some hidden crevasses.

Day 15 C3-Summit 7546m-C2

We start in the early morning heading to the summit, the ascent to the peak is a wide and gentle snowy ridge, the route is marked in flag. The highest point - Muztagh Ata peak is a small “island” of black rocks.

After summit, we descent to Camp 2 for overnight staying.

Day 16 C2 to BC

Day 17 BC-Kashgar

Your luggage will be carried by camels and you hike to 204 town, the transport is waiting for you to transfer back to Kashgar.

Day 18 Reserve day

Reserve day for bad weather

Actual itinerary may be adjusted due to weather conditions

【Requirement】

The member shoulld be physically fit to the climbing sports, any major physical injuries, undergone surgery, chronic disease etc information must declare,your medical health report from your doctor/hospital is required.

Important Information

1. Risk

Climbing of Muztagh Ata peak definitely belongs to an extreme activity. Each member is responsible for all his actions and all possible consequences of his participation in the climbing of Muztagh Ata.

2. Cancellations and Transfers

Expeditions will usually only take place if a minimum of 10 foreign people join the Expedition. Should this minimum not be reached, we may, in our absolute discretion, postphone or cancel the Expedition. If we elect to cancel the Expedition as your exclusive remedy, you may choose to be: refunded in full; or transferred to another operator’s expedition, whereupon the Price shall be adjusted by us to reflect the new expedition’s advertised price.

【Payment】

The down payment should be made by the registration deadline 2025 March 15th and the remaining payment will be paid at once climbing permit issued. The payment refund will not happen due to member personal reason after Day1.
