Is This Course For Me? 适合群体

Basic Course is suitable for people who just attempt to ice climbing and also don't have snow mountain climbing plan.

Advanced course is suitable for people who already have ice climbing experience and want to further improve their ice climbing skills.

Full course is suitable for people who have used ice axes and crampons or climbed snow mountains, and people who have technical snow mountain climbing plan.

Rock climbing experience is great for ice climbing training, and the more climbing experience you have, the better you can specialize in specific ice climbing techniques. Upper body exercises like pull-ups are great for ice climbing.

Course Programme  

Day1   Arrival in Chengdu

Check-in hotel, equipment check and sign agreement.

Day2 Arrival in Shuangqiao Valley and Ice Climbing Introduction

After arriving at the guesthouse in Shangqiao valley, coach will introduce various applications of rope, crampons, climbing boots, knots, protectors, carabiner, and quickdraw and so on.

Food: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day3   Icefall Climbing

The main aim of the first day is to teach personal ice climbing technique to ensure that you are efficient and comfortable on the ice.

Day4 Icefall Climbing ( Today, advanced course members will arrive in Shuangqiao Valley )

Teaching climbing skills for steep icefall to give a firm foundation for a safe climbing.

Day5 Icefall Climbing ( Today, basic course members will complete their icefall climbing course)

Today we choose a slightly steeper cascade to build on skills learned and progress to more technical points that will help you to climb efficiently on steeper ice.

Day6 Ice climbing in the mountaineering

The multi-pitch ice climb skill will be instroduced today so that we can focus on the rope-work (double rope descent), stance management and safety considerations on the climb.

Day7 Ice climbing in the mountaineering   

Depending on prevailing conditions we will choose to climb one of the classic ice falls. At the coach's discretion we teach lead climbing on suitable terrain or multi-picth ice climb practice.

Day8 Drive back to chengdu from Shuangqiao valley

1.   Day1 Chengdu hotel (twin room, 3/4 star hotel)

2. Day2&Day8 Chengdu-Shuangqiao Valley transportation

3. 4 nighs accomodation of Basic Course or Advanced course, 6 nights accomodation of Full Course in Shuangqiao Valley local guesthouse(twin room with heating system). Need to pay extra cost if require single room.

5. Food: Day2-Day7 breakfast&dinner, Day2 lunch, Day8 breakfast

8. Round trip local transportation between Shuangqiao local guesthouse and the nearest point of the icefall in Shuangqiao Valley in the climbing course

Price Excludes：

1.   Air Fare: flight airfare (from and to Chengdu )

2. Visa to China and travel insurance(including ice climbing trip) to China

3. Day6 transportation of leaving Shuangqiao Valley for people of basic course, and Day4 transportation arriving Shuangqiao Valley for people of advanced course ( Masherbrum could arrange for members)

4. Three meals in Day1, lunch&dinner in Day8, Lunches during icefall climbing period Day3-Day7( please prepare dry food lunches)

5. Personal expenses: Telephone, Laundry, any Alcoholic beverages etc

Clothing: Waterproof jacket , Waterproof overtrousers, Down jacket, Fleece jacket and trouser, underwear, Hiking boots, socks, 2 pairs of Waterproof gloves, warm hat, sunhat

Bags: Backpack 60-70L or Duffle bag 120L，backpack 45L( daily using) ,

Drinking: Thermal mug（1L）

Accessories: Gaiters, Sun Glass, Headtorch with batteries(optional), Washbag, Sun protection

Technical equipment ( best to have) ：

Climbing boots, Crampons, 1 Harness, 1 Helmet, 1 ATC descender, 4 Carabiners,5 Ice Screws (optional),1 Daisy chain or cowstail,1 long sling(2m+) or Daisy and 2 short slings（0.6m）,1 Prusik cord+1 Small Carabiner(Full course need it)

Technical equipment for renting:

Below is renting price list for technical equipment however would suggest that prepare technical equipment as possible.

Renting price for the full set of techinical equipment is 700CNY.

Each team member who participates in Masherbrum's activities,   may enjoy   purchasing support from well-known brands such as SCARPA, Black Diamond, Deuter, and Kailas.

Risk Reminder

Ice climbing is an extreme sport, which raise the requirements for participants' physical, mental, and athletic abilities. Participant must be in good health and have no history of heart disease, hypertension, asthma, or mental illness.

She/he takes full personal responsibility for the decision to participate in ice climbing , any act or failure to act during it and all the possible consequences of this decision.

The deposit payment 1000CNY should be made by the registration deadline and the remaining payment will be paid before Day1. The deposit payment will not be refunded under any circumstances and the remaining payment will not be refunded due to member personal reason after Day1.
